To Dr. Hunter this morning, bright and early, for Drew's 15 month well-baby check. I think he hit a growth spurt...
He weighs 26 lbs 9 oz, which is still in the 75th percentile
He is 33 inches tall, which is in the 97th percentile (he was formally in the 75th percentile!)
His head is 50cm around, which is still in the 97th percentile
I have a hunch Drew is going to take after his daddy and be quite tall.
Drew also had his last round of shots for the next few years. (His next won't be until kindergarten.) He was such a trooper as they poked his cute little legs. Just a few tears, and then he was done.
Next appointment at 18 months, scheduled for July.

Mom's New 'Do
It might have taken me almost 15 months to do it, but I finally cut off my hair into an official "mom 'do"... defined as short, sweet, and easy to manage. I've already battled a few high humidity days with that mop of a head I had before, and that was enough. Blow-drying it in the morning was getting to be quite the task, and I was ready for a change. So far, I love it, which is a unusual for me. (This is a good sign!) Usually I hate my hair right after it's been cut, but once I get used to it, I like it more. Luckily, Drew still recognized me with the short look. :)

What a week!
Wow! We have had quite a week around here...and it's only Wednesday! I'll try to give the abridged version, via bullet points.
* We have a busy week at church, getting ready for our Big Give Away scheduled for this weekend. Lesley has been spending all free time next door setting up for it.
* Monday afternoon Drew refused to take a nap, so he was SUPER crabby all afternoon and night long. Lesley very frustrated.
* Also on Monday night, Brad got sick. Like tossing-his-cookies sick. Gross. So Lesley went to Bible Study at church while Drew was in the nursery and Brad was at home kissing the toilet.
* Brad calls me just before 9pm to tell me he needed me. I come home. He wants to go to Urgent Care because he's dehydrated, all tingly, and is on the verge of hyperventilating.
* I rush back to church to arrange for someone to stay with Drew while I take Brad to the doctor. THANK THE LORD for Chris! She tucked Drew in and stayed at our house until we returned. (She even called into work and left a message that she might be late in the morning depending on what happened with Brad... such a sweetie!!)
* Brad gets an IV, pain meds, and anti-nausea meds while in UC... They wanted to rule out appendicitis. Brad better after a couple hours, back home at 12:30am.
* Luci not feeling well, Lesley can't sleep because she's worried that Luci will be the next to spill her guts. (Turns out, Luci was fine, just a gurgly tummy.)
* Tuesday morning, Drew up at 7am... a total of 5.5 hours of sleep for Lesley.
* (Sit tight... here's the clincher.) Drew has had diarrhea for past week as the last symptom of an upset stomach last week. I accidentally drag his pjs through it while I change him. Put him in clothes for the day. While Drew's eating breakfast in his high chair, he poops again and it goes ALL OVER, exploding out of his diaper. Up to the tub for a spray down. Drew runs away back into his bedroom, without his diaper on, and proceeds to finish the job on his bedroom floor! I race him into the bathroom, where he pees on the floor there before I can get his diaper on. (I totally would've won $10,000 on Funniest Videos if only I had the camcorder on!)
* Lesley breathes, says "Why me?!?!", and then laughs.
* Brad feeling better, but takes the day off to rest and drink plenty of fluids.
* Drew exhausted, takes a 3 hour nap Tuesday afternoon. (Lesley back to church to work.)
* This morning, Luci wakes Lesley up at 3:45 to potty. Consequently, Lesley can't fall back asleep before she had to get up at 5:30 to do more work for the Big Give Away. Lesley gets 5.5 hours of sleep.
* Most everything back to normal today, but again Drew refused to nap this afternoon.
* Calling in reinforcements tomorrow... Gma and Gpa VW arriving tomorrow for the duration!!!
I need to go to bed now. I'm exhausted. :)

Oh dear
Drew means well. Luci hasn't been feeling well the past couple days, and when I opened her kennel door to let her out, she decided to stay in. That's when Drew took it upon himself to let himself into her kennel to say hello. I think you can tell by the expression on Luci's face that she is less than impressed with Drew's effort to make her feel better.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Drew, Luci and I enjoyed our first walk of the season this afternoon. The stroller thermometer said it was 71 degrees outside; the high today is only supposed to be 63 degrees. (I think our stroller was a little warm from the car trunk!) A bit breezy, but the sun was shining and the mood was great! We walked for about 40 minutes. Luci LOVED it (as most dogs do usually enjoy a romp around the neighborhood) and I could hear Drew laughing at her along the way. I would occasionally hear a squeal of excitement or a giggle of glee as Drew was entertained by Luci's sniffing, wagging, and barking. Such a silly trio I'm sure we were!

Finally, a tooth!
We've been waiting for what seems like forever. Drew's been sporting only 6 teeth for months now, the last of which came in when he was 10 months old. He's been drooling like a fountain constantly for the past several weeks, and for the past couple weeks Drew's been playing with his ears quite frequently. I figured something must be working away in his mouth, and now, finally, we are seeing something new peek through his gums. Drew's left lower lateral incisor showed itself yesterday (the one right next to the two he already has on the bottom). I noticed it as we ate lunch and exclaimed "Dad, look! A tooth!" I have a feeling that we're going to see quite a few more begin to pop through!

So Pitiful...

Big Foot
I'm not entirely sure how big Drew's feet are supposed to be at 14 1/2 months. I know I'm not supposed to compare ("All babies are different") and I also know that Drew is on the upper end of the charts (I like to say "above average"). But I think his feet are GINORMOUS! He is now wearing a size 5. Is that normal?!?! So sad since we had to trade in our size 4 very cool Elmo shoes. Lucky for us, Walmart had just the replacement pair we needed. Introducing Elmo, Oscar and Cookie: Drew's GINORMOUS new sneakers!

Bed Head
We had a rough night last night...as clearly evidenced by Drew's hair. (Why can't I get volume like this?!?!?!) He's been extremely whiny the past few evenings, and last night it started to bother his sleep. His nose is running and he has a little cough (which I think is from all the snot running down his throat) and I would venture to guess that we'll see some teeth popping through soon. So no one slept well last night. I was up with Drew from about 2:30-3:30; he was drowsy but didn't want to sleep. We rocked in the quietness of his bedroom before we went into our bedroom and laid down with Dad. That lasted for about 25 minutes before Brad took Drew back into his bedroom and had him asleep in about 10 minutes. (It's kind of like when you can't get the lid off of a jar and after you've tried several times, you hand it to someone else to hear the lid go "pop" right away, all because you loosened it up first.) :)
So, today I am very thankful for Brad.
And for really good hair.
