15 Months Old

Oh Reed. Reed Reed Reed.

15 months.

You've come a long way, baby. :)

Let's see if I can give you a run-down here of all that's going on with our Monkey.

He's still as big as ever! But thankfully, thankfully, he's walking at full speed ahead, so my aches and pains from carrying him all day are beginning to diminish. :) He hasn't stopped those legs since they started, and he finds it especially amusing to stomp his feet and take long steps when he has sandals or shoes on. He falls with such grace, and has had very few tumbles worthy of tears.

Reed's appetite is h.u.g.e. He could eat all the time, if we let him. I couldn't even tell you what his favorites are...he eats everything! He's very different from Drew in this way. Drew was, and still is, a pretty picky eater, but Reed, he'd down split pea soup if you dangled it in front of him!

And boy, does this kid get into t.r.o.u.b.l.e! (Another huge way he differs from Drew!) Both boys played around and explored and did their own things, but Drew was always pretty content sticking with one toy at a time, or "reading" books in the corner. Not Reed! He moves from one thing to another, leaving a wake of haphazard toys behind him! He pulls, throws, tugs, yanks, screams, screeches, yelps, and stomps his way throughout the house! Reed's curiosity gets him into more than his fair share of mischief!

Reed's language skills are beginning to blossom, although not so much verbally as understanding what others are saying. He recognizes so many words (especially "snack" (no surprise there!), "kisses," "paci" (of course!), "diaper," "mama," "daddy," "Drew," "Luci," and other certain toys or objects). When he wants to tell us something, he usually points at what he wants and grunts.

He is sleeping really well at night, going down at 8:30 and waking in the morning between 6:45 and 7:30. Naps are pretty inconsistent, but they always have been (apparently this kid doesn't know the value of a good schedule!). He usually gets by with just one nap, in the early afternoon after lunch, but occasionally he's cranky in the morning, warranting a morning snooze as well. His mood swings can be pretty dramatic when he's tired (I have no idea who he gets that from!) but he's very good at telling me he needs to rest for a while. :)

Some milestones the past couple months include two more teeth (YAY!), gives kisses, gives fives, goes backwards down the stairs, and plays peek-a-boo.

Reed certainly keeps us on our toes.

And we wouldn't have it any other way.

(But I could use a nap every now and again!)
