Elf Antics {1}

Our resident elf, Bingo, has been with us know for a week.  Each night, after the boys are asleep, he returns to the North Pole to fill Santa in on the boys' behavior.  Upon completing his report, and after having mingled with the other elves, he comes back and finds a new spot in our home.  After forgetting about him the first few mornings, the boys are now accustomed to asking about Bingo shortly after waking up, and then searching the house high and low until they find him.  Here are the places Bingo has turned up this week...

 Coloring at the kids table...

 Caught eating all the candy (which made me wonder if this gave Drew the idea to sneak the donuts)...

 Hanging in the Christmas tree...

 Bringing the boys a special message straight from Santa, via the Scrabble board...

 On the fan in the boys' room (probably their favorite place so far!)...

 On the coat rack...

Watching his, and our, favorite Christmas movie.  He brought it back with him from the North Pole as he knew "watch a Christmas movie" was on our Advent agenda today!

So far, we're having a great time with Bingo.  Has he magically remedied the boys' behavior?  No.  Do the threats that "Bingo's watching" make any difference?  No.  But it's still fun (admittingly, probably more for me than for the boys!).  I am, however, already having flashes to the future when the boys discover that there is no Santa, and therefore no elves.  And Bingo was just a stupid trick I played on them when they were little.

I'll definitely need to have freshly baked chocolate chip cookies on hand to ease all of us through that difficult discussion...
