Catching Up

So, you already know I love scrapbooking. It's fun, creative, and for me, very therapeutic. Finding time for my favorite hobby, however, is a challenge. But in the last few days, I've been able to finish a hand-full of layouts I started about two months ago. I'm still just over a year behind with Drew's book, and I still have yet to start Reed's. But I'm making some progress! (Somehow I still find the time to do the shopping for all this scrapbooking, though. Huh...odd.)

I admit that I find, and use, a lot of outside inspiration. I don't have much of my own original creativity, especially in terms of how the layouts look. I usually "scraplift" layouts from my favorite magazine (Creating Keepsakes) but I do enjoy picking out my own papers, stickers, and embellishments. I read quite a few blogs of popular scrappers (see side panel of links), so I find a lot of inspiration there, too. I like to keep a notebook close by for when I find such inspiration or ideas, and jot them down when I don't have time right at that moment to sit in my scraproom and work. This way, I'm still feeding my need to be creative, and then have a starting point when I do find myself with some free time.

So, if you'll indulge me for just a bit, I'd like to share these most recently completed layouts with you. :) (You can click on each photo to enlarge.)

"Our Christmas '08"
(Inspired by Amanda Probst)

Behind our Christmas greeting card, I hid a copy of our annual letter. Sneaky, huh?

"Holiday Cheer"
(Inspired by Emily Merritt)

"Elmo & Drew"
(Inspired by Emilie Ahern)

"Celebrating You at 2"
(Inspired by Allison Davis. She's a definite favorite of mine. I love her simple style and creativity.)

I love these candles! Such a cute, and really simple, handmade embellishment.

Scalloping is a favorite trend of mine right now, but I have no fancy tool that does it for me. So, these are circles, half hidden underneath that border strip. Easy peasy!

"Big Brother"
(Inspired by Rebecca Cooper)

  1. LOVE these pages! Thanks for sharing! You are way more creative than I am. I tend to throw some pictures on, add a few stickers and journal a little! I'm going to 'scraplift' some of these ideas. Wish we lived closer it would be fun to scrapbook together! Miss you!

  2. Love it! Are your ideas from websites? I definitely need some new ideas for pages. Don't worry about being behind. I've just started on the girls' books. So, that's 2 1/2 years behind on four books . . . and that makes me 10 years behind. Ughh. I try not to think of it that way :)
